Acceptable accessories would include red socks, red neckties for boys, red hairbands and bows for girls as well as red nail polish for girls. This is not a dress down day!

The more that you read,

The more that you learn,

Summer Reading 2017

Incoming 6th, 7th and 8th Grade Summer Reading

Hi Everyone!  This is the summer reading assignment for both Mrs. Elliott's and Mrs. Janaskie's classes.  We hope you have a wonderful summer and we look forward to seeing all of you in August.  Until then--keep reading!!!

All middle school students are asked to read one required novel and one free choice selection for the summer.  In addition to the reading, students will complete a short assignment for each book.

Required novel:  My Side of the Mountain by Jean Craighead George.

After you finish reading the novel, please print the attached sheet, answer the questions, and bring the completed questions to school by Friday, September 1, 2017. You may handwrite or type your responses.  Also, be sure to come prepared to discuss the book in class when you return.

Choice novel:

Please choose another novel you have not already read.  It may be any book you choose as long as your parents give you the "thumbs up."  The attached list is a good place to start for book ideas.  Please print and complete the attached storymap after you have read your book.  This will also be due on Friday, September 1, 2017

Plans for Friday 1/6

Hi everyone, tomorrow please bring your independent reading book to class for all of my Literature classes.  I still don't have much of a voice so we will have silent reading to finish off the week.

Any quizzes that we were supposed to have this week will be rescheduled for sometime next week.

Thanks!
